Bill Hicks on Advertising

I like Hicks a lot and think he was dead on 99% of the time but here he's on shaky ground. Many times he revised and toned down his act to be on some show (Letterman, anyone) and therefore he falls into a similar category. Sacrificing the art in SOME small way just to get more $ by being on Letterman, etc. Just pointing that out. Still, there is a diff between that and lying about a soda you don't even drink. heheh

Everyone will probably hate you for saying that, but in many ways it's true, however it's different in that he never changed his outlook and beliefs to be on it, which is what he feels rock stars are doing. Sure, he did some weak stuff and he didn't swear but he never lied on Letterman.

Always hard to know just how far to compromise in order to play the game. But I'm glad he didn't suck up to the system. He would lay it out in their laps then laugh as if it was only a joke and some people prob thought it was but he was being totally honest almost all of the time (not exaggerating iow).
