What the bloody hell did Ken do for cyclists? London is an old city with remarkably small roads in places, cyclists believe they are above the highway code, they don't pay road tax and they choose whether they want to stop at traffic lights, that is why they get killed on our streets! Go Boris!

Stop making generalizations. I'm a cyclist and I always stop at traffic lights.

Yes, London has small roads - so you think we should ban cyclist and allow cars and lorries which are FAR bigger, cause more deaths and damage our roads and environment?
You don't make any sense.

Most cyclist also drive cars, so they DO pay road tax. There shouldn't be a separate road tax for cycling because they do not cause damage to roads or the environment.
Should people pay road tax to walk on roads? No.

You might stop at traffic lights, but most cyclists do not, its a proven fact, not generalisation. I have had my arm broken by a cyclist who thought it would be a brilliant idea to skip traffic lights when I happened to be crossing. At least with a car I can be fairly sure he is going to stop.

Cyclists get injured or killed because they do not take necessary precaution, they do not use their eyes and as a result they cause or are involved in accidents.

A proven fact? I'd LOVE to see a credible source to prove this "fact".

"I have had my arm broken by a cyclist who thought it would be a brilliant idea to skip traffic lights when I happened to be crossing."

Ahh, that explains your hate for cyclists then.

"At least with a car I can be fairly sure he is going to stop."

I don't understand. Are you trying to tell me that a car can stop quicker than a bicycle?
Be thankful it wasn't a car that hit you or you might not be here today.

"Cyclists get injured or killed because they do not take necessary precaution, they do not use their eyes and as a result they cause or are involved in accidents."

They this, they that. Again, you're making generalizations!

Don't get out of your pram over this. Statistics have been presented to parliamentary select committees on this very subject. So if you would like to look through the Hansard records then you will see.

Secondly, using the words 'this' and 'they' is not generalising, they are words used to indicate an idea that has just been mentioned.

I would say my hatred towards cyclists is pretty reasonable considering the cyclist was more worried about the state of his bike after the collision than my arm.

How can you or anyone else possibly have proof that most cyclists ignore traffic lights?
No statistics can prove that.

I never said "this" and "they" is generalizing. Read your comment again.
"they do not take necessary precaution"
"they do not use their eyes"
"they cause or are involved in accidents"

If that isn't generalizing then I'll eat my hat.

Again, you're generalizing.
You're saying that your hate for cyclists is reasonable, even though it was only ONE cyclist who caused the accident.
Don't you think you're the one being unreasonable here?
