The WGA went on strike and managed to get some extra royalties, but while they were on strke, it left a lot of the non union behind the scenes talent (makeup artists, grips, cameramen, etc.) out of work for months. And the non union staff got nothing from this.

They were on strike cause they weren't getting paid for all their work. There were a lot of shows that went on strike during this time. At the time, I didn't understand what was happening, and was really pissed I wasn't getting my episodes. Now I know.

No one is on strike now; this was from the Writer's Guild of America strike of 2007-2008.
