She isnt a hippie actually, she is very European. She sees the world in this bullshit multi-cultural idea which forces her to support the under-dog no matter how crazy they are. That being said, I would not call Israel a democracy but rather the least crazy of the crazies in that region. I have never and will never support anything except Israel's "right to exist" but also the Palistinian right not to be colonised by religious zealots. Two crazies make for a bad world situation

The most constructive thing for people who are concerned about this issue is to write to their MP's local politicians etc, to complain about the blockade. Hears another idea, why not boycot Isreali goods but more importantly companies which actively sponsor and invest in Isreal. In the long term I am sure this would be quite effective. There are several websites confirming the many large corporations involved
