definitely lip-synching. This is exactly to the note the recorded version of the song. Was the done thing at the time, no big deal.

scott walker is one of the few great,powerful singers,although he is still making music today,he seems to cater for a less mainsteam market.i admire the power and drama in his cover of this song originally sung in french by jacques brel,and as a singer myself i do this version as it is a real "singer's song"although,i dont think marc almond did a half bad job of it either,but for me,scott's version is best,if he re-releaed it, he would show the current talentless r &b "singers" how its done !

Yes he was that dramatic and he could sing. I saw him live in 1966 with the Walker Brothers and there was no lip syncing then it hadnot been invented there is no one with a voice as good!!

I'm pretty sure that it was Mort Shuman he did 'Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris' his translations were far closer to the originals than Rod McKuen's sugary versions
