If you compare this scene to the Zulu scene in Monty Python's Meaning of War, made many years later, this earlier version of the same joke is (surprisingly) much better.

This is possibly the best Carry on Film there has been. Quintissentially English. Unfortunately most of the comments on here are either illiterate and/or badly written also missing the point of the humour.

Absolutely Whitehall, Peter Butterworth also played superb supporting parts in 'Screaming' and 'Camping.' He really was the unsung Carry On hero.
