Legendarisch harde wedstrijd en een totale vernedering voor de Brazilianen onder meer verzorgd door helden als Cruijf, Neeskens en Van Hanegem.

Pass and move, give and go, its all one, two touch, total football. Makes the cynical Brazilians look second rate, although theyve always been a bit more dirty (Brazil) than the media like to paint them!!!

Thanks for posting this. Not seen it since a schoolboy in 1974. This game was all we talked about at school the next day. Such an exciting Holland team.

A trial? Never heard about it.
Are you sure you don`t mean the investigation about the game Argentina-Peru ? But if it is so, I think that this investigation never brought anything to law court.

Hi everyone. I am brasilian, but admitt that Holland Team was the best in the World and either Cruiff was the best football player I saw in my life. Sensacional !!! I couldn´t believe how Brasilian Team lost it´s head and strike this way, Normally, they don´t do it. Asking the question bellow, the number 2 was LUIZ PEREIRA, an excellent player ( believe) that makes success on Atlético de Madrid ( Spain ) -- Sorry for my English.

No, West Germany wanted to avoid Brazil. Holland were still somewhat unknown. Brazil were the defending champions. Only in second round of group stages when Holland thrashed Argentina 4-1, everyone realized how good they were.

In this World Cup, West Germany choose to lost to East Germany to no play against Brazil. Brazil has won East Germans by 1-0. Holland wins Brazil in this game. And the "Plan" for West Germans has gone well. They won the final against Holland!

My guess is that West Germany did not want to play against Holland in a group phase, where goal differences could be decisive and Hollands attack was stronger than the German.

Maybe. But what happened was that West Germany propositally lost to East Germany (0-1) to no play a match against Brazil. In that time the format of the tournament permitted that "maneuver".
