This is classic Obama - I have a bracelet too, and it's shinier than yours, and it's bigger, and better, and my Daddy can beat your Daddy up.
Poor guy, he just can't help it. He still has a lot to learn.
McCain beat him up pretty good in this debate, "he has a lot to learn, he's naive, dangerous, he doesn't know the difference between...", etc, etc.
McCain, Obama clash on Iraq, economy in first debate
'I've Got a Bracelet, Too' By Matthew Sheffield (Bio | Archive) September 27, 2008 - 03:01 ET
In recent memory, every presidential debate eventually distills down into a few catchphrases. Al Gore became known for his sighs and love of lockboxes. John Kerry actually served in Vietnam. Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy.
Barack Obama has a bracelet, too.
That inartful comeback will likely filter out through the political ether in the days ahead. What might not filter through our partisan press is that shortly after pointing out that, like John McCain, he sports a bracelet given to him by a military family, Barack Obama had to stop and look down find out the name of the soldier he's honoring.
That soldier is Ryan David Jopek. Barack Obama doesn't appear to have known that fact.
Here's his complete line:
"Jim, let me just make a point. I've got a bracelet too. From, Sergeant, uh, uh, from the mother of, uh, Sergeant, Ryan David Jopek."
Had a Republican, say Sarah Palin, made this gaffe, who wants to bet that we wouldn't hear this clip repeated endlessly during the post-debate spin shows and in the days ahead? How much would the sincerity of our hypothetical Republican politician be called into question.
I didn't hear it discussed once in the post-debate coverage. Did you?
Sidenote: Michelle Malkin reminds us that this incident is remarkably reminiscent of the now-famous incident of George H. W. Bush looking at his watch during the 1992 presidential debates.
Obama's Evolving Take on Meeting With Iran Democratic Contender Under Fire From McCain on Foreign Policy
By RICK KLEIN May 20, 2008
Barack Obama's original answer seemed crystal clear: last July, asked whether he would meet with the "leaders" of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea "without precondition," during his first year as president, he quickly answered yes.
"I would," Obama, D-Ill., said at the CNN/YouTube debate. "And the reason is this: that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them -- which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration -- is ridiculous."
Obama has not renounced his commitment to meet directly with the leaders of rogue nations, including Iran. But in recent weeks, his top aides and advisers have sought to add caveats to his promise, as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has made Obama's debate answer a central campaign issue.
Candidate Defends Position
Obama told ABC News' Jake Tapper in an interview Tuesday that he sees no contradiction in the statements, explaining that he has always said that lower-level diplomatic contacts would lay the groundwork for a presidential meeting.
"I have to say I completely disagree that people have been walking back from anything," Obama said. "They may be correcting the characterizations or distortions of John McCain or others of what I said. What I said was I would meet with our adversaries, including Iran, including Venezuela, including Cuba, including North Korea, without preconditions, but that does not mean without preparation."......

Well I'm pretty sure McCain won the first debate. "I'm afraid my opponent doesn't know the difference between a tactic and a strategy." Too bad he didn't win the election.
I am almost certain Obama will be a one-term president. He has the ignorant and youth votes, but that's about it. Whoever isn't ignorant and/or young is starting to turn their eyes away from him.
McCain won more rural areas, and more American areas. Obama won because he got votes from people in government supported areas
personally i dont think it mattters if mcain wears a bracelet suporting troops. it woulda been a matter of what he did to actually suppor the troops....if he had won.
I don't understand you? I understand that your first language is terrorism, your second language is a foreign language...and your third language is english.

I've already wasted 20 seconds of my life corresponding with you. My dog's throw up that I cleaned up next to my couch holds more value than you -- and I hope you realize that.
