good job! I'm glad there are folks like you doing this stuff, pursuing these ideals, There should be classes where people practice techniques that make these demonstrations as effective as possible, and train people to be really aware and as psychologically prepared. a civil disobedience school where not only do you practice actions but you study the literature of Thoreau, Gandhi, King and other disobedience authors..I think something like this would be really helpful

Just another example of abuse of power and authority in our so-called "democracy"! And people wonder why I'm so unpatriotic? I so admire your boundless integrity and strong convictions my friend. And being the animal welfare advocate I am, I couldn't help but notice the poor helpless police horse~so unnecessary and inhumane. You inspire me to become more proactive~count me in on your next protest.

Personally, I can't think of a definition of patriotism that distinguishes it from nationalism. I am a citizen of the world, and my loyalty is to the world, not to the U.S. in particular. Thank you for your comment. I shall invite you the next time I'm in the streets!

I just have to say this...

"The people - united - will never be defeated"

& yet those same people chanting that went along meakly when fired upon, brutalized, & arrested.

Sure looks like they were defeated to me. :(

How would you define victory? To defeat the police in hand to hand combat?

The arena is much, much bigger than that. Nonviolent resistance, grassroots uniting, and educating people about what's happening in our nation are the strategies that can bring victory.

I am pretty sure it is not an unlawful arrest if they were blocking traffic and marching beyond the time their permits allowed. I am glad all you people are out of our city.

First off, the first amendment says we have the right to assemble peaceably. It doesn't say that this right is subject to getting the proper permits.

Second, we wouldn't have been blocking traffic at all if we had been allowed to travel to the free speech zone as we wanted. For that matter, we wouldn't have been blocking it nearly as much if the cops hadn't been firing grenades and tear gas at us.

Finally, I live in your city, so I won't be out of it anytime soon.

Actually, the first amendment states unequivocally that we have the right to assemble peaceably. It doesn't say "when it's convenient." So no. We absolutely do not have to use approved roads.

Additionally, the only reason we were in the way of traffic at all was because were not allowed to go to the "approved roads" — the free speech zone. The police prevented us.

Third, they didn't tell us to disperse or give any direction at all. They just started launching grenades and releasing tear gas.
