Tiny Tim did a better job, why you ask? Because he made me laugh till I couldn't breathe. Dead serious.

Check this out! I found the original a couple of nights ago, recorded the very year Lennart was born. Is this not amazing - and see how well Tiny Tim reproduces the stylistic mannerisms of this era (though in falsetto).

He bears an uncanny resemblance to G-man from Half-Life.

What a great find. Was this "soundie" to be played during a performance at a moving picture show ?

they were called 'Talkies' not "Soundies".

but anyways, it is such a wonderful song i prefer Annette Hanshaw's version much more.

and i believe TMC remastered the movie/scene with color due to the fact that Techincolor didn't come out till 1939.

still gorgeous cinematography.

Technicolor existed before 1939. Though it was limited in use, there were quite a few Technicolor films in the late 1920's and early 1930's. It was an older, two-color method used in films like the "Gold Diggers of Broadway" and Eddie Cantor's "Whoopee."

Redrightbear, this was just a part of a full-length feature titled "Gold Diggers of Broadway."

The "Soundies" were musical shorts produced during the 1940's, basically early musical videos, that were shown along with a feature, news reels, and other shorts.

I heartily agree w/u gamewizard. You put
it so eloquently and politely considering...I have collected 78's since I was 9 years
old - in 1962. I did not know where this song came from until about 1989. I didn't even know taht there was a Golddiggers movie before 42nd St. Note that the same proscenium arch is used for this movie as the first sound movie in color, which was Warners "On With the Show" which only a black/white TV Print exists. It is important taht everyone be treated w/respect.
