Here's a perspective.
Imagine for a moment there were only the equivalent of a Sheriff & a single Deputy for each province & people's flats get robbed frequently. There would be an outcry to have more officers to prevent crime. We want police to actually catch criminals so we live safer yet we don't like their presence & we taunt them.

We seek proper balance but Freedom & Protection are very difficult lines to draw as Protection removes Freedom &
Freedom removes Protection.

Yeah many US cops are more brutal than UK cops. Since the Rodney King beating is when new laws were set in place to crack down on the video recording of police or at least the pretense of new laws. Interesting enough a patrol unit may video & audio record you but if you record the officer they use the ease dropping law because you are recording his conversation without his permission. If the Rodney King video was never shot then the riots would not have occurred, I think that is their angle
