My best friend was the director of the Tool Video's "Sober" and "Prison Sex" Fred Stuhr. We would watch the Brothers Quay Movies days on end.I like the ball and socket puppets in rare form as it shows what you have to work with and lets people know just how intricate the puppets are.Keep up the good work.
Yes, when Mike and I saw Sober, that's when we decided to do some stop-mo. The Quays are great at aesthetic, but Fred really raised it with the quality of his animation. Fred's Hendrix short film is amazing, thanks for posting it, "xwermx".
artistically brilliant....but I found the story a little sluggish....but maybe that was the mood of the piece....I didn't quite understand the concept behind this film.....music and sound design brilliant....adds real atmosphere/mood......good overal.....and I'm sure if I fully understood the concept and was in the mood to watch something more slow....I would have fully appreciated the film.....good work guys...
Thanks for watching our film, and your comments. We were inspired by the stories of organ stealing in Brazil. Basically, our character is sorta undead, and travels to a limbo land where he has flashbacks of being robbed of his organs. At the end the character accepts his own death.... and really dies this time! We probably should have made a healthy looking face model for when the lead was a patient. This would have meant more modeling, and we were on a schedule.
