Well, the easiest way of dealing with those whom value 'avarice' above the true concept of 'Pride', is simply boycott it and go elsewhere. That will make them think again. But no one does and these people know it, hence they will continue to charge whatever they want. Why should I have to pay to go into a pub in Canal Street? To hell with it.

the money raised at pride goes towards organisation, security, electricity bills and towards charities such as HIV programmes and [ironically] youth charities.

i think you're picking holes in the gay movement where there are none.
we're fucking lucky we even have pride without people like you making us look bad.

Its funny that what started as a protest event is now being protested against itself. The organisers should understand that events give opportunities for people to protest - its the basics of events management and was how this event came about in the first place. A much less deal of it all would have been made if the organisers would just let these youths carry on with what they wanted to do as long as they conducted themselves in a proper and non-intrusive manner.

Well Done! Its about time the 'Grasping' elements of Manchester's Pride were shown for what they are. Gay/Lesbian+Pride = £££££ is so wrong. Its almost like paying a protection racket....

Rhoda, ignorance and aggression is part of the problem. Attidues like yours perpetuate the hostility that exists within "the village" which the pride parade also seems to exhibit. Feel free to "put your size 12 platform boots" up my arse. You are obviously someone who feels violence and intimidation is the only way to solve things, how sad.

Hi Wynnie, lots of people would welcome that, unfortunately a you have probably encountered.. "Manchester Pride" themselves (or at least the vampires who have hijacked it!) feel they are above criticism and will not engage in a public debate that holds them to account fully informed of all the facts which they cannot simply censor or walk away from. Keep up your fight to get a message board on the Pride website, Julia Grant placed on on the Manchester GayFest website many moons ago!

Hi Nigel Martin Smith from Essential, even an AIDS Vigil can be fliered for punters, so why not ask ya minions to keep their class prejudices to themselves. Ta for ya honesty in implying that ticketed entry is designed to keep out working class people, as we weren't all born with silverspoons in our mouths - or elsewhere!
