scary thing is that home made Bomb shelters were not thermonuclear proof, =/ our government didn't half tell us some lies.

Homemade nuclear "bomb" shelters are generally not designed to be blast shelters but fallout shelters. Unfortunately, these "lean to" shelters and other government last-minute shelters are almost wholly inadequate for anyone in the path of even moderate fallout. But a real, effective fallout shelter CAN be made by almost anyone.

Such a shame it never happened. I remember watching this as a schoolboy and feeling so privileged to be living in such wonderful times.

LOL @ 3:17 - safest place to be is under a van next to the fuel tank.

Fuel tanks are designed not to explode. That only happens in the movies. If enough heat and blast get to you to rupture the petrol tank and cause it to explode, you have bigger problems to worry about than the fuel.

This is one of those films that would *really* benefit from being remade and re-aired....

Why? The cold war is over - its doubtful Nuclear war would ever happen - The main super-powers have enough weapons for MAD (mutually assured destruction) several times over. The biggest threat these days if is a terrorist group gets hold of Nuclear weapons. Or if India & Pakistan kick off against each other, but that would be geographically restricted Nuclear war. I wouldnt worry about it too much to be honest.

if you say this then why do you say you doubt it will ever happen? im sure the world will end in nuclear war sooner or later
