@hispoisongirl36 technically the difference is that a male is the y chromosone. So males are females with something extra tacked on.

Actually, growth determines sex, not gender. Sex is the biological difference between males and females, whilst gender is a social difference.

The proper English pronounciation is 'gym' as 'jim'. However, Homer is too stupid to realise that and so pronounces it as 'guy-m', saying it as if there is no silent 'y'.

Sorry, I'm from Germany and I don't get the joke in the English original. What's so funny about "What's a gym? - Aah, a gym!" ?
