in a way, they're not really the bad guys, remember, the people who owned the house and killed them (not knowing that the souls of their own children had been transferred into the servants bodies) were arguably just as evil

I'm grateful this movie didn't have a typical Hollywood BS ending. I don't understand why so many people hate it. The ending is one of the things that made this film great. Sometimes it's refreshing to see the bad guys win in the end.
