Hey, you youngsters - Per wiki, and as anyone else who's been following Van knows - "Gloria" is a rock song classic written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and originally recorded by Morrison's band Them in 1964

I've been following Van since 1964 - HE wrote the song and he's got nothing to do with Jim M. or anyone else. I have the original two THEM albums in vinyl .

I first heard "Gloria" in the spring of 1965, so I guess that's when it was first generally released.
Van was the first singer that I heard perform it.
