Hey, you youngsters - Per wiki, and as anyone else who's been following Van knows - "Gloria" is a rock song classic written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and originally recorded by Morrison's band Them in 1964
I've been following Van since 1964 - HE wrote the song and he's got nothing to do with Jim M. or anyone else. I have the original two THEM albums in vinyl .
I heard that he and Jim are brothers or cousins on account of they both sang this song and they got the same last name, plus they look and sound similar.
hmm I think this version is nice too...but excellent is the version with john lee hooker from too long in exile!!! this is amazing!! you have to listen to it someday
I first heard "Gloria" in the spring of 1965, so I guess that's when it was first generally released. Van was the first singer that I heard perform it.
