We did the revolution w/ our bare hands from the fangs of shah, sucking barrels of oil from our land & giving the rest to US, to ensure his security, for 50 years. (we also saw how US backed out from shah & didn't let him in US & accepted khomeini for future deals) We kicked the thief from our soils, & trusted the mollahs to give us our oil back, and they did. They took our oil from US, stopped deals w/ Europe, robbed us ALL from minimum freedom & they're giving it to the east instead.
Funny. Watching this video and one would think that Iran is an Islamist hell-hole that eats it's young, and spits out their bones.
I just visited a friend - foreign - who went to Iran and showed me the photos. SHE said it was wonderful, cheap, friendly people, good food and a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere. Lot's of pictures with female students. She talked openly with them about all sorts of things.
The regime there is bad - and should change - the same could be said for the US / UK
You dont get arrested for not covering your body if you are a woemn, you dont get beat in US or UK for speaking your mind, you are not killed for getting few people together and to dance & have fun. What you see on the outside is not what it really is going on. I have many family that live in Iran, they would leave if they could. People shot for speaking out the truth & wanting freedom, shot without cause, are you blind
No, no. Are YOU blind? You are trying to paint the US/UK as Utopian, but it isn't true. Civil liberties are being eroded at a pace which alarms most. The UK has more cameras per square mile than any other country in the world. Lets not forget The Patriot Act, or The Criminal Justice & Public Order Act, or how about Guantanamo Bay? Right wing nut jobs GAINING in popularity, and the UK has never seen a more racially, ethnically or religiously divided population in its entire history.
gaff, The reason US, UK & many nations have to take some liberties away is due to Islamic fanatics pooring into west, due to the aggression, hate, intollorence of this cult=Islam.Fanatics need to be tortured, have you seen what they do to people? Guantanamo is a perfect place for it. UK is getting what it deserves perhaps, after all they have done to the world, read their history, look what they have done just to Iran in two hundred years. I can careless about england, hope it goes under water
So what's your point? You couldn't care less about the countries I mention, yet respond to my posts?
I would like to think I am well read on British history and that of other countries too. Islamo-fascists certainly have played their part in denigrating British culture, but they are not the sole reason why the UK is the way it is. It's way more complicated than that. Anyway, Iran as bad as it may seem, is not hell on earth, for me at least. North Korea or Somalia probably have that honour.
