I don't really agree with Hazzlewood saying "there can be no greater expression of the suffering Mozart was experiencing than his A minor Sonata."
Albert Einstein's favourite, the E minor Sonata was written at this period, and this conveys a great deal of ideas of suffering as well.

Mozart's dad was overly protective of him and devoted his life to his, whereas Beethoven's father was pushing his son to the edge of depression by being abusive. Mozart was much younger when he started making music (age 3) Beethoven was a bit older (age 9, his father unsuccessfully tried to promote him as a child prodigy).
Mozart 's music ranged from symphonies to operas. Beethoven wrote only 1 opera

It says in the wikipedia, too, Beethoven's father unsuccessfully tried to promote him as a child prodigy. He WAS a child prodigy. I don't know what the statement's implying. Is it saying Beethoven failed to be a child prodigy? Beethoven's primary education came from his father. He was just an alcoholic, not a foul-tempered man.

Yes, you are right.. It also says so in wiki! Yah, I'd read that there were speculations even that Beethoven was not even 9 but 12 when he started making music . He was trying to promote him as the 'New Mozart' but didn't go down very well, I'm afraid.

I think its implying that while Beethoven was a prodigy, his father failed to promote him and nurture his talent the way Mozart's father did.
