u cant chose whether or not u want to be a shaman...the spirits of the ancestors, God, the earth do the chosing.Its funny though, I am a white female and is a shaman, i didnt even know i was one for a long time! but my family throughout the ages hav always been directly linked with a certain group of natives. The healer of the group is currently my mentor and i am slowly learning to control my gifts.. Basicaly i think it comes naturaly and cannot be forced.. so if its meant to be it will be! :)

In New Mexico...from a native american shaman. I wont give out names. She has a son that was born too early....and what he has been teaching her...has been helping her w/ her sons development alot.

Thanks, I don't need names, I just needed to know the possibility exsisted. I have learned that I need to dig for my own path as long as I know it can be done. I have heard that when the student is ready the teacher will appear, and that is what happened when I was ready for Reiki. good luck to your cousin and her son!
