Thank you for explaining this. But, do musicians not have copyright over their own music? Could Bjork OK this even if WMG did not?
Is a music video not inherently merged with the song? It does not really function without the music. It only exists in conjunction or entwined with the music - and usually with the complete consent and participation of the artist.
Why is it ok to let us watch the video without the music? (not that anyone would)

it all depends on the music contract that has been signed. occasionally the artist owns the copyright, but this is more likely to be the publishing (which is the song in it's written form) as opposed to the recording (as created in the studio)
labels basically take most rights as they do all the promotion, press the CD's, distribute them. So generally they take the lion share and give a royalty on sales...
