Woodhenge had seating for over 2000 people.

I doubt that. 2000 people may well have lived in the houses in Durrington walls. Have you seen the space inside woodhenge? It's not big. Those concrete stumps were huge posts remember and also there was a stone cove inside. There were at least 3/4 large timber circles within the Durrington henge. Woodhenge is not unique, and there is still no archaeological evidence for it having a roof, or being a house.

if only the engineers back then could work their magic now...
i guess someone had the right idea to chop down wooden henge and just leave behind stumps. perhaps the wood was deteriorating, and the fear of collapse posed a danger.

Since when? That's rubbish. Woodhenge was long gone before the romans came to Britain, and there was no invasion. They were invited and set up military outposts to harvest the wealth from Britain. Many britons adopted roman culture because of its benefits at the time, and then reverted back to a tribal nation after they left. If the romans destroyed Woodhenge, they would also have done so to Stonehenge. They didn't!
