Lol I live in Somerset, and caravans piss me off so much. Every bank holiday they flood down the M5 and crash into any static object they can find. Makes me wonder why they don't just take the train and stay in a bloody hotel!
Well theres a few less caravans on the roads then - get so fed up with them clogging up the M5 near Bristol on a Friday afternoon I agree with Clarkson that's its always funny when they overturn.
I got the statistic from YOU (i.e. 2 percent of accidents). I think the rest of the assumptions are sound. Many caravans very seldom even make it onto the road, being semi-permanently parked and jacked up as mobile homes, offices, etc. but still registered in case they have to be moved one day. Based on the small total number of caravans relative to other vehicles and the limited amount of travelling they do, I still think their accident rate is surprisingly high.
