@hornchurchmarine no culturally we are exactly the same as britain- and canada, america, australia, new zealnd etc. except for a few small irish speaking villages in the west. its the way to be, national identity is pointless.

That's nonsense. Foreign immigrants to Ireland certainly do retain a sense of their identities (whether it's Polish or Nigerian or English, etc.). Same thing with Irish-Americans.

@SRArepublican3 that is ridiculous. i like the national anthem but it should be reserved for rugby internationals, state funerals etc.

yes but it does get frustrating when we go to a different country and they all say how their grandmother walked through tipperary and now they consider themselves 100% irish. If your american you should be proud to be american
