hey im new to all this,
are the pins metal or something? does it matter what pins you buy? like can they just be saftey pins or something
and what type of wrire is needed to connect all the parts and how does the wire connect to the individual parts? like does the wire just solder on to the pin?

Do you have to use those kind of Diodes??? Or would any kind work??

Thank you very much for sharing a part of your wisdom to the world. Bridging technical speak to the layman is truly a feat in itself. It's a lot harder to make a complicated thing look easy... I recall seeing a print on a T-shirt that says... "If I made it look so easy, I must be very good then..." :-)
