This is a breathing mechanism for a stop-motion animation puppet I'm building - the video is just a demo to show how it works.
The hinged arms will be used to push the 'ribs' of a stop-motion animation puppet in and out to simulate the breathing cycle. Consequently, the mechanism is not truly complete.
The head of the bolt is at the bottom of the screen, and has a philips cross-head, so one would have to made an unobtrusive slit in the model so as to allow access for the screwdriver needed to turn it frame by frame.

I saw many approaches at this theme. But this tactic is a concept that can easily be expanded and developed further. I mean, it is already brilliant, with "further" I just meant for more complex stuff like a 25inch moster bust that slightly breaths... Sweet something od somewhere. When the Dreaded McTodd of old London town rides, then you better bring in the cows and send wife and kids up into the mountains. Great stuff. Really great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks everyone for your comments! The other video, taken from a different angle, shows better how it's constructed.
FleaCircusDirector, the head of the screw at the bottom of the screen will be at the rear of the puppet, as I would need to cut a slit in the puppet's skin to allow access for the screwdriver needed to work the mechanism, and being in the rear will help conceal it.
Some time in the new year I'll post a video of it in the armature, which will make everything much clearer.
