you can increase efficiency by using a heat exchanger to pre-heat incoming air. pass the incoming air through the chimney as it goes down. heat loss will be less.

the plant has high start up cost, but over its lifetime negligable maintenance cost. so over a long period of time it is quite profitable. compare to coal-fired plants which are very expensive to operate over long time (mining cost, scrubbing, etc.).
