Catch a glimpse of the 2009 Yamaha R1 in action as we go onboard with Yamaha Motor Europe Chief Test Rider, Jeffry de Vries, for a lap of the Eastern Creek circuit at the launch in Australia.
MCN Road Tester Michael Neeves was on hand to evaluate the bike himself. Check the website to see his first ride report or watch his trackside first impressions video.
For a full review of the new Yamaha R1, including a technical explaination of the bike's radical new engine, pick up this week's copy of MCN, on sale Wednesday 21 January.

pretty sure they arent twitchy at high speeds. and they take bumps as well as you set up the suspension. wheelbase has to deal with stability and the longer wheelbase(busa, zx-14, have a longer wheelbase, weight doesnt have as much to do with stability as wheelbase does) if they were twitchy you think rossi would ride a yamaha M1 to 200+mph? for any idiot here yes its an M1, not an R1. anyway point is everything changes with the setup not just whats stock
how the hell did he not loose it at 1:32? Downshifting mid corner at such high rpm. Wow, ballsy. Is it just me or does the 09 r1 seem twitchy as hell? Maybe its just the suspension set-up, or the way he brakes but the ass end is sliding all over the place.
yeh it does have a cross plane crank shaft but its not a boxer engine. a boxer engine is like what's found in a subaru impreza or the bmw r1150 gs. the pistons in a boxer engine move in opposite directions as opposed to the r1's inline motion
