Yeah that's fine. The only points I ever wanted to make are that 1. I am proud of him, especially as he is from my home town. 2. If you are born in England and you want to identify with being English then in my eyes you are as English as me. 3. If you want to identify with the country of your ancestry, or a mix of both, that is fine too - it is up to each individual.
