Preliminary setup for mixing down a song split across two 8-track master tapes. Lots of clips of me thinking "why isn't it working?" Sorry for the poor sound again.

Thanks pal , do you know how to use a Tascam ES 50 synchro by any chance, that's why I looked on youtube and came to your vid. I have one but no manuals or any instructions
No, but it would probably be a good idea to check out the Home Recording BBS. There's at least one guy there who uses one - try asking in the 'Analog Only' section.
I want to sync cubase SX to a Tascam atr 60 8-Track reel to reel. Cubase sends out a smpte code how do you get the tape machine to act as a slave? Do you know?
You have to have a sync unit that can drive the Tascam, these are fairly rare. I'm using the ATS-500, the MTS-1000 MIDIIZER, or ES50(?) will also do the job.
However, if you can make the sequencer/DAW act as slave, you can just use any old MTC sync unit and it'll be much easier.
For technical questions, consider the homerecording BBS 'analog only' board... Youtube is not the best medium for this kind of discussion :P
what is the point of this video..it's all about him doing something but not showing us anything.
C'mon man... you can say something..why are you spooling the tape in that direction..can i touch the capstan with fried chicken fingers? Put some posters or something to liven up that room ..even an old Ampex AD or somethingorother..oh and STAND UP STRAIGHT..your mother might be watching.. ;)
Now you come to mention it, I can't actually remember why I put this one up at all. The 'Wendigo' mixdown actually does something useful, though not the whole setup business.
At the end of the day I guess it's because I was still new to the whole automatic chase-lock thing and it seemed pretty cool.
