Asterixism. Yes, the Macedonians attacked Persia because they were a warrior society, and saw a chance to mend a rift with the Greeks by avenging the destruction of their temples. Also Alexander saw the opportunity to gain massive ammounts of gold with the sweat of someone else. So it's unfair to lump the Macedonians with the greeks.
