actually love this scene. how is he so good at acting emotional scenes as well as comedy?? even "the invention of lying" had an amazing scene like this when he was in hospital with his mum. amazing actor, maybe even my favourite.

acting wise yeah it probably is. But i still prefer The Office christmas special when tim & dawn hooked up. :D

I hate it when people say Gervais has no range; all they need to do is watch this scene, or the scene in season 2 episode 6 of The Office, to see what a phenomenal actor he is.

he's definitely a remarkable actor. I think some people confuse his usual mannerisms and way of constructing sentences as "always the same character" - but he is no more "always the same" than Brad Pitt, in my opinion.
