Covering a tune doesn't mean you sound like the original artist. Hendrix covered "All Along The Watchtower", yet he sounded NOTHING like Dylan.

YOU said *of course they (metallica) do(sound like Diamondhead* because they covered a "Am I Evil".
I pointed out, with the Hendrix/Dylan metaphor, that covering someone else's music does NOT automatically assume that you sound like that original artist.
That WAS your implication, as indicated by the use of the phrase "of course".
