No. You are wrong there. The contract of mantinance was ended. BA and AF were finding concorde hard to fill up (not too many passengers) due to 9/11 scaring people from flying. Branson's spacecraft is going to be used for his spaceline "virgin galatic". I hate the media too. They get too much wrong!

No. I am right there. BA DID WANT TO CARRY ON, as Rod Eddington and high hopes of it picking up again. AF and Airbus were reluctant - THEN the contract was ended.

I did not need to mention the contract being cancelled, it was not part of the conversation and it quite obviously happened afterwards.

Planeboy737 - you seriously are being an idiot now.

I was to young to witness Concorde. I have such a deep respect for the pilots who flew her, I hope that one day, she will once again be flying over the Atlantic. The Russian version has nothing on her.

The Russian 'version' is not a version of Concorde, but a completely different aircraft.

The TU144 has "similarity's" to concorde. I don't think that two independent aircraft company's could just make nearly the same aircraft e.g russia & uk and france! It's a mystery!

You say NEARLY the same aircraft - They are VERY DIFFERENT.

The theory is that plans were stolen only for IDEAS and CONCEPTS which they compared to their own to find what was best.

Internal wokings are very different, general dimensions are very different.

You must also remember that FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION.

it is a shame that she is not flying anymore
still 40 years and 27 years flying and never been conquerd what else to say !!
A 330 is still flying after the AF 447 Crash "Rio-Paris".
i saw the concorde flying over LHR and take off a few times, amazing and graceful.
maybe one day she will fly the skies again ...

I used to watch Concorde every afternoon in our back garden - about 5pm in South Croydon - really graceful and amazing on the approach to LHR - I miss this remarkable sight and sound - bring her back please - the skies are redundant and boring without her....
