This is a wonderful use of satire to cut through the subtle lie which is embedded in the term "identity theft", which the media trumpets over and over. In an environment where banks can so easily shift blame in the public sphere, it might be a good idea to stick to cash.

It's "ludicrous". You're thinking of the musician.

True, same for stolen checks that are accepted. One way id theft can kill is with credit cards. Visa used to cover theft purchases, but I doubt any of them do anymore, but yes, any theft from your bank account is the bank's responsibility. I always thought it was odd that a merchant accepts a check, but the bank is on the hook for it, if its a stolen check, unless they recognize and reject it, i can count on it being caught at my bank in a town of 3,000, but not at a major bank.

Nope. I believe it happens in the US as well. It's ludacris. Especially the banks that are under the "help" of the government now....*cough* Bank of America *cough*...and many more. *cough* Capital One *cough*.....anyway...

This is so true. And here's what's worse. I used to work in a bank and I assure you identity theft doesn't happen by someone finding an old receipt in your garbage, these aren't fucking racoons, they're criminals, criminals that work at the bank and have unchecked access to everything involving your life. And when they use that information or sell it, the bank claims it's your fault for not properly shredding your bills. Complete bullshit, and everyone is buying it.
