A drogue should slow you down by about 2 or 3 knots. Any more than that and you will have a passive system.

Attachment should be to your leeward stern section with snatch block bridle fixed to weather.

I am intersted in the comments of others who have used a drogue. I was surfing at about 12 knots with and the Auto Pilot was working at its limits to stop the boat from broaching. After I deployed the drogue, I was only sailing at about 3 knots. I think maybe I should have been going a little faster. Maybe 5 to 6 knots which may have increased the efficiency of the rudder. Any comments from others would be appreciated.

It is the Australian made RFD drogue with 100m of very elastic 14 mm line. The boat is a streched and modified Farr 44 now 48. Fitted out for cruising.
