I am a Spanish teacher and it's ALWAYS obvious when a student has used an online translator. I wish it were as obvious for English Lit teachers to tell when kids have cheated with online notes like Sparknotes.

The real problem is that non-human translators don't understand what context the words are in, so you end up getting weird words/definitions.

It also doesn't help that most languages have different word orders, so being translated multiple times is kind of like mixing up a rubix cube of dialogue...

ex. word order
English: My mother's book
German: The book of my mother

While that's understandable, mix in another language and then try and convert it all back :P
