BT 'Order by Phone' advert 1980s (Maureen Lipman)

One of the classic BT adverts from the late 1980's with Maureen Lipman. This was back in the days before the Internet, so you had to phone people to buy things!

Question: How would she know which item to reserve by phone ? You'd need to go to the shop to see what they had / what they were like etc, wouldn't you ?
