Ok, did they really have to roast the peach/apple at the end?? Couldn't they just have easily said the world was going to burn up?? I guess roasting the piece of fruit was for effect.

talk about stupid, my earth science teacher decided to assign us to watch this movie over the weekend and write a two page paper on it. It barely presents any real scientific fact, apart from the peach metaphor.
