The reference to Monroe being an RCA stockholder is from the Spike Jones Wikipedia listing, in which it's said that Monroe objected to Spike's lampooning of his singing...and because Spike was on RCA records, stockholder Monroe was able to put a stop to it. Well, Spike poked fun at all the big record stars, and Monroe might have been a good sport about it. As for Elvis, I'm just imagining "what if." Of course he wouldn't do commercials. After all, his fame dwarfed Monroe's. Now calm down.

Interesting story...but being an RCA stockholder and a 'major' stockholder are worlds apart! Monroe, most likely, got stock options as an employee of the label.

Monroe was a spokesman for RCA in large part because he was a major RCA shareholder. You have to wonder...what if RCA had dropped this stuffy "old fogey" approach and convinced their ultimate rockin' superstar, Elvis, to be their spokesman? "It's not your father's victrola..." But I am with freakybuzz. Those big old wood consoles possessed an awesome richness of sound not duplicated today.

Where did you come up with Vaughn being a 'major' RCA stock holder?!! I don't think so! Vaughn was still an influential spokesperson when he made these commercials. I doubt if you'd get Elvis to do commercials at any price.

I'm sitting in my project studio, surrounded by state of the art digital converters, outboard synths, digital sample libraries, ADAM monitors, a Euphonix control surface and a library of 24-bit recordings.

And yet, there is still a soft spot in my heart for those gorgeous old RCA consoles and that inimitable vinyl and valve sound. There's a warmth and musicality to them I envy; it's the sound I grew up with, and the sound I still strive for.

Never saw this one before, but it had a Studiomatic record changer. My GE Wildcat has a record changer which is different than RCA's. The tonearm looks good than the GE, but it has a "meatball" RCA logo, but my tonearm has a GE logo on it.

I Was Mistaken.LPs Can Be Tracked A 3 Grams,But You Will Still Wear Them Out With Excessive Playing. The Laser Turntables Are The Only Record Players That Dont Wear Them Out.
