I like this song too---taped it off my favorite public radio station here in the D. The beat has always sounded very Motownish to me---plus it has a dark, downbeat murky sound unusual for a pop single of that era. Read about them in either one of these books by Richie Unterburger---UNKNOWN LEGENDS OF ROCK 'N ROLL, or URBAN SPACEMEN AND WAYFARING STRANGERS--there's a chapter on the Poets in one of them--might be the first one. One Poets song was on a CD that came with the book--not this one, though

Just finished watching it. My favourite movie of all time ! So corny that's it's a classic. I love this song.
