Arthur Marx wrote a great book about martin and Lewis.
It's called "Everybody Loves Somebody"
It's a great fun read, and very insightful.

I thought she was fairly good. I wonder what her and Arthur, Groucho's son, are up to these days? I also wonder if Arthur and Melinda are brother and sister?

He had a daughter named Miriam too. Miriam and Arthur are brother and sister, Melinda is their half-sister.

Not only does the dancing have all of the charm of a off tempo hoedown, BUT she's wearing dark hose with white shoes! No wonder her career tanked...

These types of shows were recorded on videotape, not broadcast live. But they were done as cheaply and quickly as possible and there was no time for multiple retakes if someone screwed up.

I don't think the choreography is that cheesy. It's very girly-girly and cute.

Agreed. This is typical of most productions of that era. Really pretty good, actually. May seem cheesy to the hardened youth of today, but this sort of music made everything that came after it possible.

Check out the clip of Melinda performing "Is That What I Get for Loving You" in which she sings live with a prerecorded backing track. She doesn't sound nearly as good as she does here, where she's obviously lip-syncing to the record.
