They did this throughout the first season, but during the second season the title sequence and theme changed completely. That's what broadcasters call "the parsimony principle"--consistency in the titles from one show to another. Another show that didn't quite do that was "The Muppet Show," which had a different guest star every single week.

It has from this episode footage for a while after it says 'From this Episode' but then it goes back to random footage, but it repeats again.

@straightnjager Rather, the explosion would have been on the far side of the moon, which probably would send the moon crashing into the earth!

i thought if there was an explosive on the dark side of the moon it will push the moon closer to earth

I used to love this show as a kid, funnily enough I never picked up that the moon had been thrown off orbit at the time, at least I couldnt' remember that bit.
