I think this is a great software and you are a great man :)
My suggestion, why don't you create a donate-per-feature system? The more people will give for a certain feature, the higher will be it's priority. That would encourage donations! ;)

Suggest adding the "acrade game" mode for "play along" that the staff is "eaten up" when correct key is pressed. It is better to also have some visual effect like the staff exploding or color changing during "eaten up" as some encouraging sense to the player. In this mode, the scrolling is not necessarily paused to allow playing fluency. Of cource, the existing version is too valuable already.
