I use it on a surf rig (fishing). It allows you to have baited hooks at different depths.

Run the entire loop through the eye of your hook and then push the hook through the loop and pull it tight.

It's a secure knot in that the hook will not come off unless the line breaks. It's good because it kinda aims your bait away from your line and the knot doesn't slip up & down.
