As if being with Mandelson in Rothschild's villa
wasn't bad enough, they then had the Russian oligarch
owner of LDV vans which was allowed to close down
just a little later.

Did he do anything wrong? No.

Did he make a misjudgment in have relations with Mandelson? Yes.

George was a little naive but never had any intentions of wrongdoing.

The issue is not so much that they solicited donations but that the tories have a well known habbit of accepting dubious donations which bend the rules heavily.

For example the Conservative chairman is not allowed to donate but a company owned by him managed to donate £4M in one year despite have only a turnover of a couple of hundred thousand.
