No he couldn't. Tim Burton was very bizarre in the beginning of his career, but money changes people. Pee Wee's Big Adventure was one of the most bizarre movies I have ever seen.  Mind you it doesn't seem like it's trying as hard as this movie does. But, We are the Strange looks to be more entertaining than anything Burton has done in many years.
