enjoy breaking down the beauty of emotional connection and passion into parts and explanations till it's some bastardization of your original feelings.

and I do know what I'm hearing. i know the chords, though I couldn't play them nearly as well. and I know every word. But no single one of those explains why I love this song.

To everyone else: keep on loving music, never let anyone else make you feel less passionate about it; never let them take that from you.

Hey as long as people look at this and say "holy fuck, I better figure out why I like this shit or this dickhead is gonna yell at me" I am happy.
Enjoy listening to things and having no idea what your hearing, but still professing love for them.

oh do go fuck yourself. I have plenty of opinions on music, despite the fact that I can't explain what it is about this song that touches me. I just don't feel like voicing them, because they'd probably have to face some wave of criticism from you. why would anyone want to tell you anything at this point? you've been a condescending asshole from the start.
thanks to you, I now believe that the majority of the people who read this will actually like music just a little bit less. bravo.

although I can't be sure, because I don't exactly understand what I am hearing."

That answer would totally suffice...
and frankly, at this point, if you can not provide that, then you are completely confused and clearly do not understand anything about what you like about the music and why.
I feel I have been very generous with these explanations, but lets just call it quits, since its obvious you do not agree, and even more obvious that you do not have an opinion to give on the music.

Well, then obviously we completely disagree... or you still don't understand what I mean.
Either way, there is no point in continuing this off-topic argument so lets cut it short.
I stick by my statement: If you like something, but have no clue why, then how do you know you like it?
If I like a song, and say I really like this song because of the way its written, It makes me remember things. I think I feel this way because of the way the vocal and instrumental melodies overlap...

and the people I know who are most passionate about music always have trouble putting it into words. when they come up to me with some new song to listen to that they're absolutely nuts over, the only explanation they ever seem to have is "just listen, then you'll understand"
the inability to articulate what it is about a song that you connect with or love does not for a second diminish how you feel about it. no matter how much you'd like for people to be able to.

but then you are, whether you mean to or not, delving into the realm of emotions. if people love their songs because it makes them feel a certain way, it's probably the most difficult thing in the world to explain. because it doesn't sound terribly logical for someone to say "his chord changes make me think of relationship with my mother, which was rather quite painful for me...".
