Over 3 minutes of vid before flying... effectively stills. Could've edited the vid to show 10-15 secs of stills of aircraft before the flying, which does give a flavour of the event.

Wow! I was the CD for this race. It was at Gem Sod Farms, east of Edmonton . The third plane from the end at 1:50 (time )was mine (red and white/ white rudder). Denight, running an OS VRP engine, 60% nitro, hand caved prop, starting from a 9/6 or 7 Rev-up.22000 rpm's,1 plug per run, 180-200mph.They were very fast and very loud. I still have the plane, an extra kit and 3 Vrp's ,2 new, never run. Anyone interested? thx for the vid . Brings back good memories.

The planes... Toni's and Denights? The engines used in the early 90's were a mix of 40 size engines, turning 20k plus RPM on 60% nitromethane with a straight pipe. Venturi, pinch the fuel line to shutdown. I assume the engines used in this were Super Tiger some Nelson built, some OS VRP, perhaps K&B. I am not sure if they used Nelsons or Jetts at that time... perhaps, this is a few years after I got out of racing. This is a great video of that era, not many others exist that I have seen. thx

for this kind of airplanes, the best you can get now is some F1 Nelson... i think .40 with 60% or 65% nitro gasoline
