It was a run america againstsovjiets! If america did not join the fight in normandi, i think the russians totally would have conquered europe, from russia till spain...who would stopp them? Only america. Stalin was the same person like hitler...at the end of the war russia had such a power. I am glad now, to live in peace with america and russia side by side.

I fully agree on this point of view, despite the crucial american help of the assault on the western front we cannot forget that Hitler starts to lose the war with the russian ofensive with the turn over point at Stalingrad battle, the Blitzkrieg knew her first defeat here giving some hope to the world. Russia was the country who had more civilian casualties (10 million if i am not wrong). Anyway Staline was a bastard equal to Hitler, tell that to Eastern Europe countries and the siberian deport

65% of german soldiers that died in the war died in russia and poland. invading russia in 41 cost hitler the war. if he had not done that, he no doubt would have won. russia won the war for the allies. however, the russian forces coming through poland and germany were not necceserily a liberating force. in some ways, the soviet union was worse than fascist germany.

Very difficult to say what would have happened if America haden't joined. D-Day wouldn't have happened and Germany wouldn't have had to take their forces from the eastern front to defend themselves from Normandy and lost the eastern border. And eventually, if given enough time, Germany would have developed a way to conquer Britain.

It was not America who freed Europe it was the Soviets, and their 21 million dead from the war alone, that stopped the Germans. Surely, the millions of soldiers, civilians, women and children who died on the Eastern Front will not be forgotten?

Speculation? Perhaps. But my argument is supported by mere logical reasoning.

Prove to me that America or the United States was vital in terms of the War against Nazi's, especially considering the fact that America joined in 1944, and that the net aide provided by the Allies was approximately 1 billion dollars, which in comparison to Soviet net output at the time was greater than 1 trillion.

The Cold War had started, that is why America joined, for influence.
